Most manufacturers hardware bought 'off the shelf' come with software,
although what you can do with the software can be limited. The software will
allow you to download the voice files to your PC. This can be to your own PC
or to a folder on your computer network.
Many organisations that have a large number of users can experience
difficulties in tracking dictation using the standard software, which is why
there are a number of companies that offer workflow software.
There are a number of workflow solutions available, including
Calison Frisbee,
BigHand,
Crescendo,
Winscribe and
DictaNet to name a few. These can come at a price, however
workflow software can and will save a lot of headache, lost dictation and
generally make the digital dictation process much more efficient. Please
note that Grundig offer a very good worlflow solution that is bundled in
with their hardware, in our opinion this is probably the best offering in
the market at the moment, as you get good hardware and good workflow
software all in none.
